Taco is an experienced lawyer and has an advisory practice with a strong focus on area development, public-private partnerships and sustainability.

Areas of interest

Choices for land use in the Netherlands are challenging To enable today’s challenges in housing construction, energy transition, climate adaptation, mobility and an attractive business location climate, many choices have to be made. Choices about economy, mobility, climate, people and nature. Most of these choices affect the use of space in the Netherlands and have to take clashing interests into account. This requires cooperation between governments, between governments and companies and between companies. Taco advises governments, energy companies, investors and developers in making those (legal) choices in (complex) developments.

Taco has extensive experience in area development, project development, port development, energy transition and circular economy.

Registrations

Taco has registered the following areas of law in the Register of Jurisdictions of the Netherlands Bar Association:

  • Real estate law / Construction law
  • Tender law

This registration obliges him to earn ten training points each calendar year in each registered area of law according to the standards of the Netherlands Bar Association.

Details

Taco studied Dutch law at the University of Amsterdam. He previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers and at the Real Estate and Corporate and Litigation Practice Groups of Loyens & Loeff. In 2006, Taco was one of the founders of Stijl Advocaten.

Taco is co-author of the Practice Books Sustainable Construction and Intellectual Property Rights in Construction Law of the Institute for Construction Law and of the publication Legal implications of climate change: the case for circularity. He also publishes in the Advocatenblad and the Tijdschrift Bouwrecht, among others.

Taco is a member of the Construction Lawyers Association (VBR-A), the Construction Law Association (VBR), the Dutch Procurement Law Association and ELSA Alumni.

Taco is chairman of the Stichting mr. F.H. Piket, a foundation aimed at promoting and supporting the artistic climate in The Hague. Taco is also secretary of the Stichting Mondriaan Business Club, Kunstmuseum Den Haag.
