This privacy statement provides further information about the processing of personal data by Stijl B.V. (Stijl). Stijl is the controller as referred to in the General Data Protection Regulation for the processing referred to below. The contact details are those of Stijl:

Data and processing
Stijl processes personal data for the provision of legal services, including the conduct of (legal) proceedings, advice, mediation, internal knowledge sharing and referral. For this purpose, Stijl processes, among other things, contact details of clients and contact persons of clients, counterparties and their lawyers. It also processes data of data subjects mentioned in files, including data on real estate transactions.
Stijl also processes personal data for the purpose of collecting claims. For this purpose it processes, among other things, the contact details of clients and contact persons of clients.
Stijl also processes personal data for marketing and communication activities. For this purpose, it processes, among other things, the name, position and email address of the person concerned.
Furthermore, Stijl processes personal data for recruitment and selection (applications). For this purpose, it processes, among other things, the contact details and information provided by the person concerned, such as the letter of application and the CV.
Finally, Stijl processes personal data in order to comply with its statutory obligations, including the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft). To this end, it processes the personal data of the client’s contact persons and the client’s ultimate stakeholder(s), to which it is obliged under legislation and regulations. The provision of personal data in fulfilment of statutory obligations by Stijl B.V. is a necessary condition for the conclusion of an agreement with the client.
Stijl will not use personal data for other purposes.
Stijl processes the personal data referred to above because they have been provided by the person concerned on his or her own initiative or pursuant to legislation and regulations, have been obtained in the context of the provision of services, have been made known to us by third parties, including counterparties, or have become known to us through public sources, including the Land Registry.
Stijl can process this data:
- for the performance of a contract or to take measures at the request of the person concerned prior to the conclusion of a contract;
- by virtue of a legal obligation; or
- on the basis of the protection of the legitimate interests of STIJL or of a third party.
STIJL does not retain personal data longer than necessary, or as required by law and regulations for the aforementioned purposes of the data processing. Personal data stored in connection with legal services, financial administration and complaints handling is subject to a retention period of 20 years. For all other purposes for which personal data is stored, this data will not be stored longer than necessary, or as required by legislation and regulations.
Sharing of personal data with other parties
Stijl will only share your personal data with third parties to the extent necessary for the provision of services in accordance with the aforementioned purposes.
Firstly, Stijl uses the services of third parties when processing personal data for itself. In order to keep track of the work carried out, it makes use of a software provider for time registration and declaration services. For its financial administration it makes use of the services of an accountant and a tax consultant. She uses an email provider to send and receive emails. She also uses a service provider to identify and filter unsafe e-mails and uses an antivirus service provider to secure Stijl’s IT systems in her office. She uses a hosting provider to publish the website. In addition, Stijl makes use of a back-up service.
It also provides data to other parties who are themselves responsible for this. This includes, for example, the observation of the practice by another lawyer, the performance of an expert examination or the provision of your personal data in connection with (legal) proceedings or correspondence with the other party. In addition, Stijl may provide personal data to a third party, such as a supervisor or another authority vested with public authority, insofar as there is a legal obligation to do so.
Website and cookies
Stijl uses cookies to track visits to its website. Cookies are small text files that are placed on the computer so that this computer can be identified when the computer visits our site. Stijl uses Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, Inc. Stijl has set up Google Analytics in such a way that the data is not shared with Google and is anonymised. The cookies placed for Google Analytics are session cookies that are deleted when leaving the site. You can block the use of cookies by adjusting the settings in your web browser. Please consult the manual of your browser for this. The STIJL website will then remain accessible.
Stijl also has access to visitor statistics of its website that are maintained by the hosting provider.
Security
STIJL attaches great importance to the security and protection of your personal data and, taking into account the state of the art, provides appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk.
Your rights
You have the right – to the fullest extent permitted by law – to access, rectify or delete any information that STIJL has about you. You can send a request for inspection to the contact details mentioned above. To the extent applicable, you also have the right to data transfer (data portability). The law determines whether we cooperate with your request. This means that we may not always be able to comply with your request.
In order to ensure that we provide the relevant personal data to the correct person on the basis of your request, we ask you to provide a copy of a valid passport, driving licence or proof of identity with a shielded passport photo and BSN for verification purposes.
Stijl will only deal with requests that relate to your own personal data.
