Marlon Boeve specialises in environmental law, with a particular focus on area development and environmental law.

Areas of interest

Marlon is a professor of Environmental Law in Area Development at Delft University of Technology and a university lecturer in Environmental Law at Utrecht University. As of counsel, Marlon chairs the internal knowledge sessions on area development, advising the lawyers at Stijl Advocaten on a wide range of issues in the field of area development and environmental law.

Details

Marlon studied Dutch law in Amsterdam and obtained his PhD in Amsterdam under Prof. N. Koeman and Prof. R. Uylenburg with a thesis entitled “Het omgevingsrecht van de compacte stad” (Environmental law in the compact city) (2017).

From 1995 to February 2017, Marlon Boeve was a university researcher and lecturer at the Centre for Environmental Law at the University of Amsterdam. Between 2015 and 2017, Marlon also worked at the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, where she contributed to the Environment Act. Since 2017, Marlon has been an assistant professor of environmental law at Utrecht University, and from 2019 to 2022 she was also coordinator of an interdisciplinary UU platform on the circular economy. In September 2022, Marlon was appointed professor of Environmental Law in Area Development at the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology.

Marlon publishes frequently in leading legal journals, such as the NJB, TBR and the Tijdschrift voor Omgevingsrecht, in academic collections and in handbooks on environmental law, spatial administrative law, area development and circularity. Marlon is also the author of Tekst & Commentaar Omgevingswet.

Finally, Marlon is an editorial member of the Tijdschrift voor Omgevingsrecht (Environmental Law Journal), a member of the editorial board of the Tijdschrift voor Bouwrecht (Construction Law Journal) and a board member of the Environmental Law Association.
